Step-by-step: move a conversation to another AI app
- Install ConvoVault. Add the extension to Chrome or any Chromium browser.
- Open the source conversation. For example, open a ChatGPT thread and click the ConvoVault export button.
- Choose "continue in another app." Pick this instead of copy or download, and choose the destination (for example Claude).
- Open a new chat on the destination. ConvoVault stages the conversation and fills the new chat with it.
- Keep going. Continue the conversation in the new app. The staged payload clears itself from local storage after about five minutes.

How the handoff works (and stays private)
When you choose to continue in another app, ConvoVault writes the conversation into your browser's local storage — on the source domain — as a short-lived payload. When you open a new chat on the destination, the extension reads that payload and fills the chat. After about five minutes the payload clears itself automatically.
